| Abstract： | We describe such a homotopy type as the classifying space of a category.For the classical Satake compactification of the moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties this recovers work of Charney and Lee. In that case we also identify the stable cohomology in geometric terms and determine its mixed Hodge numbers. This is in part joint work with my student Jiaming Chen. |
